The Patient is Our Purpose...
The Union is Our Voice!
About Us Healthcare workers face enormous pressures at work everyday. Understaffing, lack of supplies, and safety issues are far too common in our health care system. Health care workers of all kinds, nurses, techs, aides, social workers, lab technologists, physicians and support staff have come together in CWA to address these and other concerns.
As a Union, we have the power to make our voice heard. We fight hard every day to ensure that our wages, benefits and working conditions are equal to the vital work we do. But as a Union we also make our voice heard within the health care system as a whole. We are active in legislative efforts at the federal, state, and local levels, which address issues like access to care, safety and health issues for staff, and funding for health care services.
CWA maintains a structure whereby members keep each other informed through a network of stewards, mobilizers, and Local officers. Since members are up-to-date about issues in the workplace, we can all take part in activities to improve the situation.
It is only through our activity outside the bargaining room--in the hospital and community--that gets management to agree to our proposals. Thus, the more active we all are, the better our contracts are! [More About Us...]

Cheryl Murrien-Julien, RN "In CWA we have a legally-binding contract and a grievance procedure that management must follow. This guarantees our right to fair and consistent treatment in our hospital."

Kate BeBlasi, RN "Because of our collective voice in CWA, we are able to extend the skill, experience, and care that we bring to our patients out into our communities to help find solultions to a healthcare system in crisis. We are able to influence public policy because we are part of a union."
